Not probably the most technically flamboyant, but Ringo Starr's drum solo from The End (Abbey Road) has stuck in my mind for decades.

Also, Steve Gadd's playing on the title song of Steely Dan's Aja album is hard to beat. The outtro is perfection.

For technical prowess, I don't think any of the rock&roll drummers can outdo Buddy Rich. Just about any song his band did contained an out-of-sight drum solo.

Ringo has been described by Paul as a human metronome. I tend to agree. Bonham was a musical genius. I’ve seen detailed analysis of his performances that prove it. Neil Peart was far above both. Number One.

I pretty much agree with you. I have my favorites from the rock & roll era, but this clip showcases what Buddy Rich could do: Buddy Rich @ The Concert of the Americas.

I saw Buddy Rich live once on a plaza . Stood about 20 feet away. I was Blown away.
