Another distraction for the short term memory voters? I remember NASA announcing they had found “fossils” on Mars ( was the reporting headline ) smack dab in the middle of the 1996 presidential elections.
Turned out what it was, was supposed”chemical fossils”...supposed chemical residue from a living thing in a meteorific rock found in Antarctica. Supposedly the meteor was from Mars. They “knew” it was from Mars becuz gas inclusions in the rock was of similar composition of the Martian atmosphere millions or billions of years ago. Oh, yeah, right....
Turns out the chemical residue could have been easily produced from non living chemical processes.
