“Commies” is good because it’s slangy. It avoids getting bogged down in technical objections over its meaning because it’s not meant to be precise. Instead it’s a good catch-all term that covers the full range of jerks we’re up against.
Good point, probably why I do it. The phrase I use is “bunch of commies”.
