A California high school educator once named “teacher of the year” was arrested for having sex with a 16-year-old student, according to police.
Tracy Vanderhulst, a 38-year-old math teacher at Yucaipa High School, was charged with statutory rape on Thursday following an investigation into allegations that she had sexual intercourse with a minor, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.

Vanderhulst was booked into Central Detention Center in San Bernardino.
Her bail was set at $30,000, according to the sheriff’s department.

I know one female teacher who gushed about the “eyes” of one of her male students. Something about them she found hypnotic and enticing. Again, I don’t think she did anything about it, but a student of hers touched a nerve.
I am sure the same thing happens to male teachers with female students. There is an attraction there, but your moral filters and discipline keep you from doing anything about it. But these days many people lack those filters.

Female teachers appear to think they are more likely to get away with it. It might even be true, as we have no idea of what percentage get caught.
Honestly, I usually expect hideous in these stories. But, no, she’s cute. Nice teeth, too.

When I was in high school, I’d have hit that like the fist of an angry God.
As the comments note below, it is somewhat different with boys and girls. One of the primary differences, is that the consequences for girls can be =much= more severe. Pregnancy at 16 isn’t something that is going to improve your prospects at all.
Almost always with these cases, it most likely came to light because the boy was bragging about it to his friends.

Before World War II, most secondary education was segregated by gender. Catholic high schools and boarding schools were single sex almost universally, and many public high schools maintained separate campuses for boys and girls. Additionally, there were far more men in the teaching profession. Our forebears were wiser than we are.

In the teen years, if you put boys and girls in close proximity, it will seriously distract from schoolwork.
It sometimes resulted in June brides.

How about the psychological scars and other consequences of a 16-year-old boy becoming a father? How about learning that the 38-year-old teacher has aborted? How about contracting a venereal disease? How about being "used" and then "dumped" by a psycho?
And I do not use the term "psycho" lightly. A 38-year-old MALE teacher would have to be very irresponsible and even reckless to try this - a 38-year-old FEMALE teacher would have to be psycho.

True, teenage boys are probably a hundred times more willing than teenage girls - but the "level of willingness" among those teenage girls who are seduced by their HS teachers is still so high that it cannot be compared to non-consensual rape.
If their (the girls') "level of willingness" were transferred to the victim of a car theft, for example, the judge would throw out the case.
So the fact that boys will hop on practically anything in skirts obscures the fact that the girls (in most of these cases) are likewise willing and thus culpable.
I'd still say that there is considerable risk of psychological harm among the boy victims. And the risk of pregnancy is still there (imagine being a 16-year-old father, and being on the hook for child support! Or having to deal with the guilt and/or pain of an abortion!) - as well as the risk of contracting a venereal disease.
These female teachers are nutso, to boot!
