Same, right? What’s stopping us from dressing like that today?
Nothing but you would likely look out of place these days.
I have a closet full of suits and ties that I wore from the 1980s on up to pre-COVID. One of the great things about being a man is that your clothes rarely go out of style. That pinstripe suit I bought in 1987 for my first professional job could still be worn today - but I'd have to lose a few pounds!
However, dress codes have become quite relaxed since most everybody started working remotely once the COVID nonsense started. Even though we are mostly back to the office, khaki trousers and button down shirts with casual loafers are the order of the day. Nobody wears ties anymore, not even the CEO of my company.
Can't say I miss having to wear the suits but I'm hanging on to them just in case.
“What’s stopping us from dressing like that today?”
Nothing, really. But it would be expensive to have a hat, shoes, and gloves to match every outfit — but beautiful. A few years ago, all the ladies in church picked one Sunday when we’d all wear hats. It was very cool!
