Sarah Bonner has been an Illinois middle school teacher for 20 years, and she has always tried to offer her students a diverse collection of books.
One of those books was Juno Dawson’s “This Book is Gay.” It’s a bestselling nonfiction book that’s billed by its publisher as an entertaining and informative “instruction manual” for anyone coming out as lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans.
“By Wednesday, I received notice that parents had gotten a hold of pictures from that book that their child had taken in class,” Bonner says. “By Friday, I was told that parents had filed a police report against me for child endangerment.”
The day after Bonner learned about the police report, she received a letter from her school district — she had been placed on paid administrative leave.

Parents are lazy. If they really cared, they’d check out the schools before they moved into the neighborhood. They’d run for school board. They’d become a school employee or volunteer. They’d check their kids’ textbooks and homework assignments every day. They’d get to know the teachers, their kids’ friends and other parents. They’d attend school events.
My 8th grade English teacher 50+ years ago had us read Oscar Wilde’s “Picture of Dorian Grey”. I thought at the time it was about homosexuality, and it was upsetting. I think she did that on purpose, but it was subtler.
That book is simply inappropriate and would be inappropriate with similar content titled “This is Straight.” Books with explicit sexual content should not be offered as reading choices by teachers to students.
Safe place means in teacher parlance. “A place where I can encourage students to defy the morals and values of their parents and be silent when they indulge in risky behavior.”
Good. Groomers should not feel safe. They should be very concerned of the legal and financial consequences of their evil conduct. As to other remedies. There is a God. I will leave it at that.
Heyworth is small town central IL, but is only a half hour south of Bloomington-Normal, where Illinois State and Illinois Wesleyan kolleejez are. No doubt there are plenty of lib parents in the rural subdivisions along US51 that fall into Heyworth’s school district.
Looking at the school’s fakebook page, I see the usual: over emphasis on sports, teachers looking cool with the kids, and prom dresses that are not very modest.
(I remember Neil Bortz saying once, when talking about teens smoking and the risk taking mindset it expands, quoting some stats from somewhere. One of the teen smoking stats was: If your teen daughter smokes, then the chances are much greater that when she gets home from the prom that won’t be the first time that night she takes off her prom dress.)
Good decision.
Isaiah 5:20-21
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;
Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
And clever in their own sight!
That sounds like more work than simply homeschooling.
You can always spot the homeschooler - he/she is at least 3 grade levels ahead of students their age in public school.
QWERTY....the abuser in Lolita, and her groomer.
Oral sex between two young boys.
The Four R’s are now:
readin’, ‘riting, ‘rithmetic , and rectal sex.
She is hardened in her sin.
No repentance, no forgiveness.
...and the sailor’s dog.
Amen!
Though from some of the content I read online, the sailor’s dog may learn a few new “tricks”! ... poor thing.
Looks and sounds like my granddaughters’ families!
Public school teacher who are child molesters should be treated as such.
