According to APMEX, the spot price at the moment is $1,970.80 USD. That would be before packaging, processing costs etc. by the wholesaler. IOW, the wholesale price of a plain 1oz round or ingot. The premium is the retail profit margin and varies from dealer to dealer.

If you could dig it out of the ground and bring a lump of gold to a dealer you could demand spot price and get it. It gets complicated when you factor in collectibles vs bullion coins or ingots etc.
