Goodwill and other organizations get paid per pound for used clothes. This gets sold over seas. It ends up there. Much of it gets used and bought but alot is trash being sent.
We call these places ukay ukay...usually small merchants with outdoor kiosks who sell it to working class folk.
A used t shirt is 25 to 50 pesos or 50cents to a dollar. A good collared sports shirt might be 2 to 10 dollars.
A poor quality Chinese tee shirt is 5 to ten dollars. A good quality spots shirt at the mall is 30 dollars.
Now you are a farmer making 7 dollars a day. Which do you buy?
