Don’t think politics matter?

Try proposing a leash law for cats.

The ones here use my garden as a toilet. Not a fan of cats. I wild/feral cats as a disease vector.

YMMV

As the article noted, feral cats can cause real problems. I hate to say it, but my first thought here was: Many psychopaths get their start as children, killing small animals. So this is probably not something to be encouraged.

Ah, heck. I’m probably reading too much into this.

It noted that children often use air rifles in these events, which increases the likelihood of an animal's suffering and prolonged death.

I'm calling bullshit on that.

I have a solution. Keep your pets inside. Problem solved. Continue the hunt. Excelsior!

“And they warned that anyone who produced a microchipped cat...”

Years ago (maybe it still is) it was legal to shoot feral dogs in Minnesota. Although lots of tame dogs would go off into the woods with a pack of wild dogs for a day or two at a time.

The law made no distinction between the two.

I'm a cat lover and fully support the elimination of feral cats.

If you're a cat lover too, then keep them inside your house where they belong unless you live on a farm away from civilization where they perform a service in eliminating barn rats and such.

I have no sympathy for cat owners who complain their outside cat got ran over or poisoned or other such demise.

My cats have had outside back deck territory only and they know it.

Feral housecats need to be exterminated anywhere they exist because they are a manufactured breed, not native to anywhere on the planet, and therefore an invasive species wherever they exist.

They wreak havoc on native wildlife anywhere and everywhere they’re found. There’s no rational reason to try to conserve them because they’re not occupying a unique niche in the ecosystem, plus we made those and can make plenty more of the same.
