I worked with a Gulf War 1 tanker, it took 15-20 years for him to be fully debilitated. The VA admitted no guilt, but granted him lifetime medical treatment and full disability payments. He no longer works.
Many Gulf War vets ( non tankers) are in the same boat- presumably by breathing in the DU dust near tank engagements. $6,000 a month disability payments and benefits is a lot of money but not when you suffer every day of your shortened life.
