It's possible that the officers involved fell for the prank if they have recently moved here from the bluer, 'defund the police' states up north. Unsurprisingly, they're not familiar with gators and that, combined with the sometimes mythical stories they get about our local fauna here in the Sunshine State, it wouldn't be hard to be snookered, especially in low light.
Or they knew full well what the deal was, and they were just hamming it up.
Either way, all in a day's fun.

It’s Turtle Nesting Season, so light’s out, everybody!
Just try not to stumble in the dark over any napping Gators.

Just to be sure, gators do pop up on the beaches from time to time....................

Cops in Florida have experienced it all.. Years ago they’d investigate when running into situations that looked like animal sacrifices... now thy yawn and know Florida has a full share of people from the Caribbean who practice voodoo.
Under the surface, Florida’s a strange place.

Because it’s full of people that aren’t originally from here.......more now than ever since people are running away from their broken states to reap the benefits of a state many of use have taken decades to get the way we want it and they haven’t had to lift a finger to help with instead of fighting against liberal utopian ideals in their own.
Chances are a lot of those coming here haven’t leared their lesson and brought their lefty voting habits with ‘em.......because they sure as hell brought their asinine driving habits.
