Well in My used-to-be-quite little Town they are putting up new high-density apartment complexes by the dozen that are exorbitantly priced !!! We rent a 2 bed/2 bath/living room/dining room/fair sized kitchen and laundry room with an external 2 bay high ceiling metal garage w/ door openers , all electric with septic tank and private well and a large yard about 1 acre for around $1460/month and goes up 4% every year!!! The new places which are completely overpriced (more than Our rent for a 1 bedroom apartment on the 2nd - 4th floor) and out-of-character for our region. The locals are not impressed. But the damned city council politician's are ramming this on the town and screwing up the Historic Downtown Shopping District by trying to get bars and clubs to move in the area and turn it into a crap hole like Charlotte !!!

Our Town's original Hardware Store is a Historical Site that opened in 1899 and has only had 2 owners.

I always check with Jack, Danny and the Girls before I go anywhere else and even if it costs more than the big stores I always buy from Turner Hardware first and if I have to order something that's fine, they get orders in every Thursday.. The service is impeccable and always friendly, you can get a Radio Flyer Red Wagon, local Honey, handmade soaps, 1 screw or Daisy Red Ryder BB Gun. Even popcorn and the short Coke's in a bottle. When was the last time that you saw buckets of different sized Corks for sale one at a time ?

The government will happily raise your taxes until you are taxed out of your home and forced to sell it in order to put food on the table or pay for medical care - then they’ll happily buy it off of you for a fire-sale price - to either hand over to deep-pocketed developers for condos, Section 8 housing or to house refugees.

I’m very conflicted about it. I’m proud of my contribution and serving my country, and I have to think there was some truth to the threat we faced, but the more time goes on, I’m just not sure how much of it was real.
