Recent graduate, failed at real-life applied engineering “test”.

I have great respect for the potential energy of a car. I have and would never trust a jack when it involved putting even part of myself under the car. Jack stands, as in more than one is the only way I will do it. Even then, I am very careful and spend as little time with as little of my body under the car as possible.

Parents must be absolutely heart broken.

We would jack up the car and put a huge log under it.
Hillbilly jack-stand.

Damn… how friggin’ sad. Rising paranoia (and seeping wisdom) may now drive me to get each of my (grown) kids a pair of jack stands for their cars.

He just finished getting his degree in mechanical engineering. I would think that someone like that would have a better understanding of this kind of thing. He didn't learn jack.

Reminds me of Mark “the Bird” Fidrych, former MLB pitcher, who was killed working on his truck...but at least he was 54 when he died.
>> jack fell out from underneath him
an odd description, but damn
assuming it wasn’t a lift
it’s been a while, but I’d never get underneath without two jack stands and some degree of resting vehicle weight

Must have missed the lesson on jack stands.

The 16-ton weight is just one way. Just one way- of killing
the raspberry killer. There are millions of others.
