If Ukraine was having those losses, Russian forces would be advancing on Chasiv Yar and Slovyansk. The reason why Ukraine is running a fighting withdrawal is because Russian casualties and losses work in Ukraine's favor.
Bakhmut will be a Russian Pyrrhic victory. That is perfectly acceptable to Ukraine.
