If we reach what we call success here, then we have, in essence, created a world with no need of the Living God. For those that might not yet fully understand, it would be little to do with the Lord and a whole lot to do with the world.

Careful...sounds like leftist infiltration using religious guilt to pressure people to give up on striving for a better life.
The American dream is not to covet. Stay with the women and children by the wagons.
Exactly. It is God who allows and enables folks to,achieve success or not. One can have both success AND a close relationship with God, being thankful for what God has allowed. It doesn’t have to be one or the other.
There is danger in success to be sure, and many do seek it outside of God’s will, and God does allow them to achieve it outside of his ultimate will for purposes known to God, but on the flipside, God does allow many to be successful because that is his ultimate will for their lives, again, for his purpose.
It is not for us to look upon people of success and declare that they are outside of God’s will- they may or may not be, but whatever the case, God is in control for his own good purposes.
The perversion of the american dream also goes against God.
But God has always said he has plans to prosper you. Not harm you.
The American dream is liberty to do as we ought to do in service to God and family. It is not license to do as we please.
Bastardizing the concept through language manipulation is part of our problem. America isn’t Capitalism. Capitalism is an economic system allowing individual freedom to pursue the greatest good.
One leftist sentence?
This is the worst click bait headline I’ve ever seen on Free Republic.
I’ll remember this site and NEVER click on it.
Balderdash
The US was founded by God fearing men. They gave us a method of living.
If one choses to walk away from God not on the system
Whoever said that should go try and live in a communist country
Absolutely, utterly wrong.
The so called “prophet” is no prophet at all.
Both of the “prohet’s” following premises are false:
“We have all been raised up in this country to chase our dreams, to be successful so that we might live high on the hog.”
No. We have been raised up to be successful not to “live high on the hog” but to live well and to live well with economic security for our families. Just because a few became massively wealthy in our environment does not make those individuals wealth the essential purpose behind our economic system.
“If we reach what we call success here, then we have, in essence, created a world with no need of the Living God.”
Not true. Even the greatest financial success does not eliminate the need to be close to God and follow His word. In fact, financial success requires even greater attendance to God’s word, so as to not be seduced by that success to break God’s commandments.
Another way to make US seem evil.
Playing right into the America-hating communist traitor laps.
Besides i always thought the American Dream was really about freedom.
That freedom more likely leads to material success as the serfs are allowed to make their way themselves and get what they can get.
The American dream is liberty to do as we ought to do in service to God and family. It is not license to do as we please.
