Mine was a statement more of personal taste: I find it namely distasteful to strain credulity in searching for overwrought, half-understood scientific explanations for issues that are better handled as matters of faith.
It would seem just as ridiculous to me if someone were to point to, e.g., the vast quantities of water (ice) presents in Saturn's moon Enceladus, and imply that this "bolsters" the Biblical narrative.
You are all free to believe whatever you want with respect to the Story of the Flood; I find references to ringwoodite suggesting that it is "evidence" pretty laughable, however.
