Colorado mom discovers SNAKES slithering inside the walls of her first home she worked her whole life to buy - and is now too petrified to move in after forking over $1,000 trying to get rid of them

A single mom has recounted how she horrifyingly stumbled across a horde of snakes living in the foundation of her new home.

Amber Hall made the shocking discovery last month, days after moving into the four-bedroom, two-bath behemoth in Colorado with her two kids.

The home is set on a scenic, tree-lined street in Centennial, centrally located among some of of Denver's most affluent suburbs, to the city's south.

Hall, 42, says spent her entire adult life working to afford the dream domicile - and was over the moon when she and her children moved in back in April.

However, that changed when the mom-of-two came across the school of scaly reptiles slithering in her walls and underneath her patio.

Moreover, the realtor who sold her the house has since gone AWOL, forcing her to personally fork over thousands of dollars for professional help - who are telling her the infestation is now more serious than once thought.

Scroll down for video:

'I was unpacking in here and one of my dogs crouched down and started walking over to this corner really slow,' Hall told FOX31 of how she has made the disturbing discovery almost immediately after moving in.

'I was like, "What is it, buddy?" I thought maybe it was a spider, whatever,' she recalled.

'I came over and as I came over, I saw the snake slither up the wall.'

Upon closer inspection, she realized it was not one snake, but several - all living along the back wall of the home's garage that leads into the yard.

Mongooses are notorious for their ability to hunt and kill venomous snakes.

The Indian gray mongoose is one of the most well-known snake killers, known for taking on the king cobra, one of the deadliest snakes in the world. These mongooses hunt and kill these snakes in their natural habitat, eating them all the way to the venom sacs..

Maybe rent a Mongoose from the local zoo.

The good news is, she no longer has problems with mice

Those are Western Garter Snakes. I found one in the CO mountains that was almost 3' long. Brought it home and it regurgitated a large mouse skeleton and hair.

That was a surprise to me that it was only shades of brown, that it was that big and that it had eaten a mouse.

All of the garter snakes I caught as a kid in Aurora, CO had orange and green stripes and were much smaller. Insect and frog eaters. Brought 17 of them home after one exceptional day in the creek bed. :)

Plains Garter Snake.

Centeniall is much closer to the mountains so I guess they have the Western G. Snakes there.

Yep, those are the Western Terrestrial Garter Snake. I found the full name searching for a pic of the Plains variety I had seen so many of on the eastern side of Denver.

I also found a stunning variety of colorations of the many other sub-species of garter snakes. I have only seen the two types here in CO.

All she needs is a couple of Jack Russell Terriers for a day or two and the problem would be solved.

“Not likely”
To which of my questions?

That she had a home inspector or that he would have caught it?

Snake meat is good meat to eat, at least pan-fried, without breading of any sort.

I had that first as a young child.

A guy a few years back in Minnesota discovered thousands of garter snakes in the walls and under the house of his home he recently had bought.

Back in 1981, I went to a Air Force training episode in Denver. About a month into it, they had a news story.

Car was found out in the mountainous region (to the south of Denver). Couple in the car....dead...suicide. Deputy opens the back of the car and there’s empty burlap sacks there. He calls it in.

LE people show up at the residence of the two. Neighbors come up and ask what’s going on. Suicide is explained, and the burlap sacks come up. Neighbors get freaky and say that they need to go into the basement area...carefully.

Cops get down into the area, and there are these glass cases...empty. Neighbors explain....around 30-odd highly poisonous snakes had been there...some non-native to the US.

LE checks out the area around the car...no snakes. Some folks tried to reassure the public that a regular harsh winter would kill off the non-native snakes. No one really believed them.

Lol, a rat would eat these guys up. They’re just harmless garter in their den for a season change.
It would be different if they were rattlers

Either way, they can be cleared with a smoldering sulfur smoke /stink bomb.

The stench of sulfur will make them move immediately.

Garter snake “mating ball”.

No big deal.

Utterly harmless and they would have left after the sex party was over.

Back when Bubby was alive, he had a Garter friend.

It would sun itself in the back yard and Bubby would go over and lick its head and the snake leaned into it happily.

When Bubby suddenly died, that poor little snake would come out from under the porch and look for hm.

When Hrafi got here, the snake popped out all happy and realized it wasn’t his BFF and went back under the porch.

Never saw him try to chum up to Hrafi again.

That snake knew.

Garters, Ring Necks and rat snakes are three that you can just pick up and have a pet.

Racers, not so much.
