Raise the flag! (Pancho’s)(A TX thing).
The real reason many all-you-can-eat places went out of business is that Sharpton, Pritzker, Bragg, Rep. Corrie Bush and other famine-causing leftist pigs left the feeding troughs empty like a plague of locusts on a bright summer day.
And now you know the truth.
Sadly, there are no more Pancho’s in San Antonio. Mrs. R2 and I were in Dallas about 4 years ago and we happened to run across a Pancho’s.
And of course we happened to stop and eat there.
The sopapillas alone are worth the price of admission.
“I incredibly miss my local Old Country Buffet!”
I loved going to our local Country Buffet while living in the Chicago suburbs long ago. Great food, fair prices, what not to like?

Just last week I stopped at one of the better chinese buffets in town.
I was in the mood for seafood. I had maybe 3 dozen peel and eat shrimp, a few plates of peeled shrimp with imitation crabmeat, about 7-8 slices of sushi, spring rolls, rangoons, etc.
$13.00 for lunch. I rarely do that, but I figured I’m worth it. So I treated myself.
I remember going to the “Jolly Troll” in Minnesota that was a buffet.
This past week I am at a Ralphs grocery store in Porter Ranch in the San Fernando valley and looking at the meat when a guy walking by the chicken sneezes bigly all over the chicken.... He did not even try to turn away...
I went elsewhere. I won’t eat at all you can eat places because I do not know if the sneeze guard was enough...

Friends took me to a couple of those when I lspent a year in Florida. I marveled at how much food customers piled on their plates and shoveled into their mouths. Ideal places for fat people to go, but although a few had some food I like, I don’t ever eat much. Just not that hungry.
Some people actually brought plastic bags with them,, scraped food from loaded plates into them and took them home. I considered that stealing.
I never thought eating was supposed to be a competition.
I just drove past a “Church’s Chicken Buffett” that is in the process of being built, so there’s some new ones coming, too.
Would you rather open a hamburger place, calling it “Furr Burger’s”?
Pancho’s Mexican Buffet... you walk the line cafeteria style, telling them what you want, then when you sit down at your table - when you want something new, you just raise the flag on your table.
There’s a few left in Houston, but I don’t know if they’ll survive much longer.
The building that my local Sweet Tomato was in was torn down and an In 'N Out was built in its place.

We had a Double Dave's pizza down the street that had a great pizza and salad lunch buffet, but sadly it closed down after the local creek flooded the shopping center where it was located for the second time.
Sweet Tomato is now an In 'N Out, Luby's (and Fuddruckers) have shut down, and I've never been to a Golden Corral.
I guess the ultimate "buffet" for me is the local Brazilian Steakhouse, where it's all you can eat meats brought to the table on swords and sliced right onto your plate.

I want to eat there. Too bad I’m 1k+ miles away.
Furr Burgers sounds like a completely different kind of establishement. Something found in a Nevada dessert town with rooms for rent by the hour. lol!
