The problem is if they don’t understand the culture, the context, the history and values that made the British people what they are they’ll become something else entirely. And it’s not necessarily a better thing looking at the political outcomes, listening to their rhetoric, reading their philosophical writings. Watching how they are to people they disagree with. It’s the difference between a melting pot and separatist identity politics. It’s why orderly legal immigration is a good thing and open borders are a moral disaster that threatens nations. Everything new isn’t good. Bad ideas keep getting recycled because that’s humanity. It’s unfortunate that mass media and social media have amplified the voices of childishness and silenced voices of reason.

This is why education is critical and the right’s neglect of it is so appalling.

All of these cretins that believe Bridgerton depicts reality are insane! The British people of the 1700s would have soundly rejected a black princess. The Saxe-Coburg crowd hadn’t long been on the throne at this point and would have been sent packing. Brits love to claim Americans are racist slave owners but they conveniently that the Brits brought those slaves to the US while we were still a colony.
