Neither sounds like a good way to go.
Most suicides by hanging, even in jail or prison isn’t what you think. Yes they tie something around their neck, but, not stepping of a stool or chair. Instead they lean forward or slouch forward or down while sitting and just cut off the blood flow to the brain, quite painless, you just pass out and die.
Every male suicide by hanging, makes me think “Blue Haze”!
