The officer fortunately will be okay. It's another example of the need for training and trigger discipline. It adds to the debate as to whether a handgun should have a safety. It's also another example to dispel the lie that you don't need a firearm because the police have them.

My two cents, I carry a SW 9mm single action no saftey. I have the luxury of not being a LEO. I don’t keep a round in the chamber.
Trigger discipline, safety and situational awareness are very important. You have to train tactical on the range now and then to be proficient.
