Dear one, think not of the love you have lost, but the love you gained and had every day while it was there.

I could have been angry that Mrs. Joe was taken over a year ago, but instead, thank God for the years we had together, soulmates, and for the family we built together.

Count your blessings, as hard as it may be, and proceed in faith that God will provide. He really does, you know, even when times seem their worst. You have friends here.

May The Almighty keep you and Bless you and bring you peace in your heart, as well as help you with all the technical worldly details.

I’m not sure how the laws work in MD, but if you have a marriage license, or even common law rights, then you should be the likely recipient of any benefits from that insurance policy as the surviving spouse. Others here have said to check into Social Security survivor’s benefits, and any VA survivor;s benefits. Do so. You have much on your plate, but you have that deep strength you do not even know of: call on The Almighty to carry the load, and do what you must.

May God Bless you and keep you, dear lady, and I offer my condolences. I know it hurts.

Thank You, SJ. You jogged My Peabrain on a few things I’d forgotten about from when My 2nd Wife passed away.

Salamander- When My 2nd wife passed away I was in the process of trying to get Social Security Disability for neuropathy and I got denied Social Security Disability they did tell me though that she had a pension fund from some hospital she worked out that I’ve never even known about it before we got married that I was eligible for that money so go ahead and call Social Security and get that ball rolling and ask them to check for any benefits that you may have from your husband unknown to you now if they’re there they’ll find them for you tell you who it is and all that stuff I’m gonna search up some more information here there’s been drug from my little pea brain memory so I’ll be getting you more data here today.

As was mentioned already You must have a Marriage Certificate, this will one of the Key Documents needed by many places/people You will be dealing with so get a few copies made at a Copy Shop. You’re also going to be needing multiple copies of His Death Certificate so get those done also. I would suggest that You get at least 5 of each because they will be needed. AND His Birth Certificate, if You don’t have one then You’ll need to know: Location of Birth, Mother’s maiden name, Date, SS Number and possibly more. The Certificate will be in the City/County/State or Military Base if born at one. I was able to get my BC copy by applying Online. There will be Fees for All of these Documents.

Hang in there Sister we’ll help you get this crap straightened out somehow.
