More than 90% of used solar panels get thrown in the trash, and the world's wind industry is estimated to produce 43 million tons of blade waste each year. But some companies have found recycling solutions. Ben Tracy reports.

They failed to address that the projected 20 year operational life for the windmills is overly optimistic, or that the payback period is 21 years.

Doing nothing is more cost effective, not counting the recycle cost or the optimistic operational life.

The wind and solar industries are soon to reach a market equilibrium...they will not be able to build more grid capacity AND replace and maintain current capacity as it reaches the end of its’ relatively short lifespan. Same problem with EV batteries...not enough resources and manufacturing capacity to replace old batteries and make them for new EVs.

I was kinda hoping the populartiy of EVs would tip the scale to the point it would cause the price ICE vehicles and gas to drop but like you said the grid would probably fail before that ever happened.

Meanwhile...

CBS accidentally commits journalism. Reports about the coming "Tsunami of Renewable Waste." And they didn't mince words: the world’s wind industry will be producing 43 million tons of blade waste annually. Currently, there are no scalable, cost-effective technologies to recycle the blades.

So why did CBS report it...
