Saw the movie Thursday and highly recommend it. Exorcists say the demon was portrayed realistically. The acting was fabulous.
Scriptural accuracy is spot on.
The demon's explanation of things to this atheist lawyer are quite compelling.
Audience comments after the movie: "That was pretty heavy, I'm going to have to think about that."
The demon seemed to be afraid and backed away when a priest was called in, but relaxed and sat back down when the priest said he didn’t believe in demons.
When I was in college lo these many years ago (the early 70s), I was active as a Libertarian. In those days there was a rumor the draft was to be reactivated, so as good Libertarians we started a campus group to oppose what we considered forced labor (slavery). Our group included a number of Marxists organizations who opposed the draft for their own reasons.
One night at a strategy meeting someone said something about free speech and a representative of the Socialist Workers Party (Communist but followers of Trotsky) stated in a voice full of venom (paraphrased), “Free speech does not include hate speech”. It was the first time I had heard the phrase, and, frankly, considering the source, I thought it was ridiculous; free speech being what it is supposed to be, and the fact hatred is the very basis of Marxist ideology.
Today some 50-60 years later the idea of hate speech is on everyone’s lips, and has, mirabile dictu, become a major component of our everyday discourse and has even infiltrated the law. I don’t know how this happened, but I find it quite frightening.
Ok. But I want to see more of that fabulous beauty offering the clip.
I just watched the clip and a trailer for the movie. It’s now on my must-watch list.

I have not seen the movie but the book is great. The Nefarious Plot by Steve Deace. Got it in 2016 after hearing Rush interview Steve on his show. Have read it twice and probably will soon again.
