There is a mental illness where folks believe a part of their body (an arm or leg usually) doesn’t belong to them.

A doctor in England years ago (6?) had two patients that he cut off one arm from. The medical community got together and decided that wasn’t a good surgery and put a stop to it. The doctor was not fined or forced to quit.

To continue the Seinfeld theme, I wonder if the doctor said “Was that wrong? Should I not have done that?”

Actually, the doctor was full of remorse that he was no longer allowed to give his patients (he had 2 or 3 more waiting for surgery) the care which they so desperately needed.

Not to mention the *money* the doctor so desperately wanted.
