I'm an advocate for free market and hate the Dims trying to force EV's onto people. My wife and I like our EV enough to do most of our driving in it, including most of our trips. But even with that, I would suggest nobody run out and buy one without looking at their situation and making sure it's best for your driving situation (see comment # 14). And even then I'd probably wait until one of your current cars is giving up the ghost and has to be replaced anyway (best time for you).

I wouldn't get it for trips unless most of the places you'd drive (for us anything past 700 or so miles we'll fly) has an ample supply of fast chargers to choose from (easy to research) and your wife wants to stop every 200 or 250 miles or so to use the restroom or walk around. LOL I haven't driven on a long trip without my wife since we got the EV, but whenever that day happens I'll probably take the ICE pickup.

Well, wait a second. When I do the math I might decide to take the EV. It takes 10-15 minutes to charge every 200+ miles, vs filling up my ICE pickup in 5-7 minutes every 350+ miles (my personal limit). So on a 500 mile trip in the EV I'd stop twice for a total of 20-30 minutes, and in the ICE pickup I'd stop once for 5-7 minutes, but spend a lot on gas (perhaps $40-$50 more for gas than for charging at today's prices). So the question is if saving $40 is worth waiting an extra 15 to 20 minutes. I guess it'd depend on how big of a hurry I was in.
