Now ... We both know that Vince Lombardi did not engage in criminal assault after the conclusion of an athletic competition, nor did his players.
Questions for you:
1) Do YOU approve of criminal assault by players on other players following an athletic competition? That's a simple yes or no question.
2) Do you think Vince Lombardi considered such behavior appropriate in any way, shape, or form? That's also a simple yes or no question.
3) Given the nature of your comments so far, you have some serious explaining to do.
FTR, I consider GENERAL Patton's comment irrelevant. His specialty was war. COACH Lombardi's comment is relevant; his specialty was athletic competition. Anyone who cannot distinguish war from athletic competition should not be engaged in either. Such a person will not likely take war seriously enough, while taking athletic competition too seriously.
