Losing the wrestling match would serve him better. Having a criminal history and bad reputation wouldn't. Initiating an attack against someone, especially with a sucker punch, is not a good self-defense move. It's the way to poverty and danger. Many criminals try to prevent that by plotting, scheming and accusing the victims, which leads in the same direction.
