Partially correct. While they did grow industrial cannabis; Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln all had harvest notes about separating seeds they found more potent.

People have these ideas of the Founders being all pious. They were renegades of the highest order.
And for the record the word "marijuana" is a psyop word from the "Reefer Madness" days to make cannabis sound bad. Hemp IS cannabis. Higher THC contents have been bred into cannabis strains by stressing the plants. This medicinal herb (you of all people should know that) has been with us for a long time and readily accepted until the 1950's with the Reefer Madness nonsense (which was also racist as heck).
