The significant A.I. companies include Google, MSFT, Amazon, FB and a handful of other very large large American and Chinese firms.
But Aegis is an autonomous killer robot which has been deployed by the U.S. since the 1980s or earlier. It represents the future of warfare, because humans cannot react fast enough to keep up with incoming hypersonic missiles for example, or the environment of space for satellite killers, or thousands of swarming drones. Robots are also immune to biological warfare.
The Aegis defenses may already deploy A.I.-controlled beam weapons as well (lasers, directed microwaves etc.). American defense contractors are starting to hint at this in 10Q filings.
A.I. is quietly approaching like a tsunami that is still crossing the ocean.
I have not heard that. Aegis systems work by using two radar systems. One locks on the target and one on the ammunition. The system fires test rounds and if the two meet the system fully opens up. When they were testing it they found it very difficult because the targets they were using blew up before the system could fully open up. They eventually solved the issue. An old co-worker of mine worked on the project.
