"I've not eaten in McD's in over 40 years."

The only thing I like from McDonald's is their breakfast sandwiches...specifically their Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit sandwich. When they started offering breakfast all day, I was extremely happy, because I'm a senior citizen who doesn't go to bed until 3 or 4 in the morning. Every-so-often, I'd stop there on my way home from shopping, and pick up a biscuit sandwich and home fries. When the scamdemic came around, McDonald's used it as an excuse to stop serving breakfast all day. Here, in the small city of Rome, NY, they served them until 2 p.m. Then they eventually went back to only offering them until 10:30 a.m. in the morning on weekdays. The last two times I was up early enough to be able to stop at McDonald's, was in January, after both of my cataract surgeries.

Eggs are very good for your hair, by the way.

There you go! Now order the Roast Beef sandwich.

ProTip: When they get to know you by first name, the portions aren’t so small..

I don't know if they ever offered that here. I know they serve different menu items in different parts of the country. I live in the armpit of the world. For example, if you want to go to Red Robin, you have to drive an hour away.

I remember getting McDonald “shakes” in 1983, in San Bernadino. Sometimes, for fun, I would let one sit for an hour to let the vegetable oil rise to the top, and light a match to it. It wa always fun to watch a “shake” burn.

What do they mean by on the grill. Any burger I’ve gotten from McD since the Clinton admin has come out of a microwave. The sandwich slide bins heated by hot lites are long gone. If you want grilled in NY it’s Five Guys, or if you have the money Shake Shack.

All McDonalds have a large metal grill on which they cook their burgers.

“miles away . . . super old and not remodeled is decent”

Interesting, because the McDonalds Company maintains a Supplier Code of Conduct. The Company and its affiliates and subsidiaries generally do not supply food, paper or related items to any McDonald’s restaurants. (Says the annual report.)

So the better quality that you have found, may be attributed to the old stores owner-management.

Okay...let’s just get this over with. I am not the biggest fan of Mickey D’s, but let’s clear up a few things:

The meat is 100% beef. Not worms. Not sawdust. Not pink slime.

They are cooked on a flattop metal grill. They are not microwaved.

There are generally two sized patties - 1/10 pound and 1/4 pound. It has always been so. Back in the 50’s the original McDonald’s burger was...1/10 pound.

The cheese on the cheeseburgers is basically Kraft American cheese singles. It is specially made and packaged for McD’s, but for all intents and purposes, it is the same stuff.

The buns are pretty bad, but so are the buns at most fast food places. “Good” bread goes bad pretty quick. Yep, it is loaded with preservatives, just like most of the packaged hamburger buns you buy at the supermarket.

The french fries are amazing. They used to come in boxes, frozen. You dumped the box into the basket and lowered it into (at that time) beef fat. It...was...the...best. It also had huge amounts of saturated fat in it. They now use a custom mix of corn, soybean, and canola oils. The potatoes are pretreated (some say soaked in sugar water) flash fried, frozen, then shipped to the restaurants where they are then fried to golden wonderfulness. Hot McDonald’s fries are the best...cold McDonald’s fries just suck.

The onions on the 1/10 pound patties are reconstituted dried onions. The onions on a quarter pounder are fresh.

I tried to eat a BigMuck in 1968. the Mucksoss sucked then and I haven’t been back. The notion that I have to wait longer to get a muck-free burger is beyond dumbass. Can’t use it.

The company is also adding more sauce to its Big Macs, to ensure customers get more sauce in every bite.

Now I know these execs are out of touch with their business. The last thing the Big Mac needs is more sauce. It’s usually so drowned in thousand island dressing (I’m sorry, “special sauce”) that it takes half a roll of paper towels to eat it.
