Whenever we house hunted, that was one of the FIRST things we looked at.

Yup. When the 500 year flood comes along...... I see houses for sale in our area and always look at the flood potential. Quite a few are 8/10. Automatic NO. And, there is a LOT of snow just uphill. The official measuring location is well over 800 inches. A couple ski areas are saying they’ll be open until August on limited runs.

The money lenders at one time wouldn’t loan money to build a house on property on a flood plain.
Those rules changed about 25-30 years ago and the builders started building and selling homes built in flood zones. Buyer beware.
