Thanks, I’ll check that style out
There was a karate dude in mma fighting who also dominated for a long time in the heavyweight division- Lyoto Machida-
he was my favorite fighter because of the style he Incorporated into mma fighting. He often fought with hands down, (which is a big no no usually in mma) just out of reach of the opponents striking distance, and leaning backwards to keep his head out of range and would explode with speed and power in a counter punching strike that was really something g to behold.
He also had devestating kicks, and had one of the best front kick knockouts I’ve ever seen in mma.
As he got older though he lost the speed he once had, and the opponents learned to exploit his weaknesses (mostly leg kicks), and eventually he lost the belt. He couldn’t quite connect with his counterpunches anymore, and his hands down, leaning back stance was figured out by the opponents and ended up costing him points eventually.
Everyone scoffed at karate being used in mma- but they dropped their moc,ing when he began destroying his opponents. Many began to imitate his style for awhile after-
I beleive he is now in the mma hall of fame.
