The agreed upon number between 2014 and January, 2022 was some 14,000 people were killed, a majority of whom were combatants (i.e., armed forces). Some 3500 civilians were killed, including the 280-odd passengers and crew of the airliner MH17 that was shot down by Russian-backed forces using a Russian-supplied missile system.
