What a maroon!
Well, child brides are pretty much a sacred tradition in the Muslim world...
*** They grew up with their families in different states. After a number of years, when the children became adults, and were able to care for themselves, they began to living together. The couple is still married today.***
Ok, so the kids were “allowed” to be married at 12, but they didn’t live together as married couples do until they reached an age where they were able to take care of themselves. So in essence, they weren’t really *married* per se. Closer to being betrothed or engaged.
It’s Missouri so he didn’t need to add “only if they’re related”.
Distractions Distractions.
Damn, a REPUBLICAN said this? Now it’ll get nonstop airplay.
He voted against prohibitions of under 18 getting married a few years ago. A pussified Democrat effeminate rep pushing tranny rights characterized his vote against prohibiting those under 18 from getting married to “voting for child rape”.
More democrat lunacy.
My great aunt and uncle married at 14
Died in their 90’s
The Dems are the party of pedophiles so what is so surprising about this clown thinking marrying at 12 is OK?
Considering the context I am pretty sure he was making the point that even if 12 year olds make a decision usually reserved for adults and later do NOT regret it, it does not mean allowing 12 year olds to make such decisions is a good idea.
If 12 year olds are of age to get gender altering surgery or drugs why not let them get married? For sensible people neither should be o.k.
Mike Moon (R-Ash Grove) should resign.
Were they riding in a covered wagon behind a team of mules? ;)
The democrats only have a problem because it is a heterosexual relationship. They have no problem sexualizing pre teens.
I don’t approve of anyone obviously sexually immature getting married.
But I’d rather see that than being sexually assaulted, chemically or physically maimed, or fornicating. There are degrees of evil.
To say that the 12 year olds should be free to fornicate but not marry is nuts. I oppose both.
States where underage marriages are allowed also require parental consent. Down through history, parental consent, rather than age of consent, was typically a major consideration for marriage. It was assumed that most people would marry and that parents played a major role in the selection process.
Today, most “kids” have experimented with sex before they become legal adults. God designed sex to only be within marriage. The government should not be teaching kids sex, allowing media companies to peddle porn to kids, and pushing kids to engage in perversion, body mutilation, and abortion. And they should leave parenting to parents, including decisions to consent to their children marrying prior to the age of majority. So, delaying marriage has benefits, but the government should not be interjecting into family matters.
On the other hand, there is a societal interest in protecting children from sex abuse, and that includes the Planned Parenthood/LGBT+ religion.
