Yeah. SA-22 Pantsir. They were garbage as they were designed...guess where? (Moscow). So they didn’t work in the desert. Hint: Northern Europe doesn’t have AC so they never thought about the cooling aspect!
Who would win in a war? The mighty T-90 or our not-so-mighty trans tank?
More than likely, the Ukraine provided the tank for the US Military to examine, test and evaluate performance. I’m guessing a UKR arms dealer under contract to DoD..... Headed out to some MRTFB (Major Range and Test Facility Base). Based on being in Louisiana, maybe headed to New Mexico Ft. Hood or White Sands?
I agree. At the end of the Cold War, Yuma Proving Ground received literal train loads of Soviet Armor to evaluate.
Very useful stuff to know the ins and outs of.
You can bet some Abrams tanks from Afghanistan are being evaluated in China and Russia as we write.
Now THIS is an assault weapon.
Whatever is an “open source intelligence (OSINT) tracker”, I am rather certain that just about every piece of major equipment we’ve sent to the Ukes is similarly tracked, and, if so, there’s somebody in a US government basement somewhere who knows exactly where a good part of it ended up — Africa, Mideast, Asia... Louisiana...
Apparently!
I think so
i have some free time, i will volunteer to drive it for a day or two. always wanted to drive a tank, could be fun.
“”The T-90A is modern by Russian standards””
Not good ad copy.
I loved that movie
Would guess it’s on it’s way to Anniston depot.
I understand this. A long time ago I worked with a hardware engineer, and we were tasked with reverse engineering this TV controller board that allowed this Pioneer TV to play videos off of a server on the local network. (I worked for a competitor that made TVs). While we were working on this, he told me a story about how during his tenure at Georgia Tech (in the late 80’s) he and a group of other engineering students did some work on “devices from far Eastern Europe of which there was only 1, and we were told to not blow anything up”.
So, that’s what’s going on here. It’s being shipped to a place where it’ll be disassembled, and reverse engineered. (Probably the first one they’ve gotten, or maybe it’s the NEWEST one, and they want to see if anything has changed).
ping
How long before it’s up on concrete blocks with the wheels missing?
Scrappers, they’ll steal any metal scrap that isn’t nailed down.
My guess is that it will be used for target practice. Either that, or a collector bought it at auction and was shipping it home.
Only those of us who watched GOOD Saturday AM cartoons will get that reference.
AIN’T THAT THE TRUTH? Those were the days!😀
I think you can buy them on ebay now.
