Tim Bottoms messed up that scene and Bogdanovich was pissed at him for years because of it
Never seen the movie, just snippets.
Ben was in some damn good movies. In quite a few of John Ford’s movies. Sad he took his own life.
Correction, died of heartattack.
Ben was one of the absolute best. I first remember him in Shane, saying: “Oh, we was just talkin’ about pigs ‘n’ taters ‘n’ one thing and another.”
He mastered the SW United States accent like no other. Slim Pickens was close; but a bit overdone.
What a great long run that man had!
Ben was not going to accept the role but John Ford stepped in and Johnson did the role at his request. Ben did demand a change in his script getting rid of the curse words used. He told them the original script was”dirty”
