I looked it up and Fab 5 Freddy, who was also in the video, read a poem at his funeral, after he overdosed on heroin.

His painting seems to suggest a deeply disturbed individual. And it sounds like he had a horrible childhood, included being raped by a man in drag. And that was long before drag shows were children's activities.
