I believe New York State assumes it can use Canadian hydropower to make itself look CO2 ‘green’.

The Canadians might choose to not export that hydropower in order to make themselves look CO2 ‘green’. That will cause New York State to have massive energy shortages.

Generation is only part of the problem.

Storage is the biggest bottleneck.
Even in places that are renown for it’s sunny days, there will be no generation during the nighttime hours.

Until storage is solved, all else is a fantasy.
