Baby hippopotamus
According to NYP,
Bill Marrs said "Pregnant badger!"
David Petitt said "We don't have badgers in Texas."
(One in Abilene, Del Rio, and Crandall. David Petitt-Homme does live in Houston. Im just not motivated to drive down there to check which one.)
I said that it must have not read that book. Animals generally arent real well educated on such things and dont seem to ever look at the maps that wildlife biologists prepare for them to know where they are allowed to live. Sometimes they dont even seem to know what they are supposed to eat.
When my grandma had to go out at night she took a double barreled 16 gauge
(a gun Ive been told doesnt exist)
because in the peach orchard
(a tree that "everyone knows" wont grow here)
is where the mountain lions
(an animal that was exterminated according to DNR)
used to hunt.
Here were some that didnt even know enough to question their existence.
Illiterate wildlife! Exactly why government shouldnt be in charge of education.
Mystery animal? Oh geez, that’s a Badger.
“Exactly why government shouldnt be in charge of education. “
Bump!
Both Badgers and Wolverines are animals with a normal bad disposition and that you should not provoke.
“Son, you don’t poke a wolverine with a sharp stick unless you want your balls ripped off.” (note: site is still there but no longer operated)
Be that as it may, if someone is wearing a badger on their chest or carrying one in their wallet its probably best to try to get along.
People that say “there aren’t badgers in TX,” “16 ga. shotguns don’t exist,” “peaches won’t grow here” and “mountain lions don’t live here anymore” are the same citified geniuses who think it will be great to release two wolf packs with 30 wolves each in the mountains of CO because “oh, cute!”
When they start hunting domestic dogs and cats in Boulder and west Denver backyards I’m going to laugh at each and every story about their tears and fears.
It’s a blemonge.
Nope. Macroscopic Tardigrade.
“Capybara instantaneously came to mind when I saw the pic:”
That was my first thought, but way outside it’s range (South America).
Head seems wrong for feral hog.
Does not look like javelina to me.
I’m stumped.
