Reminds me of an old ham radio cartoon from many years ago.
A guy is unboxing a radio ‘kit’. There is a piece of equipment in the box with instruction to disassemble this old army surplus radar unit to obtain parts for your radio.
The thing had all sorts of adjustments and was about the size of shoe box. It was hooked to an electric guitar amplifier. I am pretty sure that in the right hands it could have sounded pretty good. But to me it was a major disappointment. I spent a week putting it together. I am assuming the kit is currently assembled further than it used to be. But the completed project looks similar.
