This past week we watched the 2nd episode of the new season of Succession. At the end when the credits rolled, it was page after page after page. I said to Mrs. abb, “It takes that many people to make a tv show now?” Used to, it was maybe a couple or three dozen people listed in the credits.
No wonder the crap is so expensive to make now. Lots of deadheads on the payroll.
How much of that list because of independent production instead of going through the studio? Did the studio just have electricians, stage crew, prop handlers, etc., etc. on the payroll and didn’t have to be credited, but now the show has to hire and credit them individually? If you flipped a switch once you get now a credit.
