I knew someone would remember more about LTV than I do. We were studying that merger in school at the time. It pretty much set the stage for a decade or so or big name mergers. And it was a favorite stock for my boss at the time-—along with ATT, IBM, and the whole royalty in the Dow.
I don’t remember AT&T really taking off until deregulation. Then they bought up my phone company, Southwestern Bell.
