Elway spent his entire career with the Broncos, where he won two Super Bowls throughout his Hall of Fame career before he retired in 1999. Elway returned to the franchise in 2011, and spent the next decade as the Broncos’ general manager. He helped lead them two a pair of Super Bowls, including the one they won with Peyton Manning in 2015.

A future in politics? He'd be good running for the senate or governorship. Timing is not good. Neither job one is up until '26. Would he take on Hickenlooper? Colorado too blue?

Did he speak out against the Wilson deal?

Or maybe Sean eased him out.

More likely Rob Walton eased him out.

38% of the vote in. I’m talking about the Wisconsin Supreme Court vote. The rat has 59% of the vote. Elway should enjoy live.

Usually they promote him to Executive Vice President from General Manager. It’s a way that he can remain with the organization without forcing him out. I’m surprised they haven’t done that in this situation.

Kind of faint praise.

Looked like they needed a lot more pieces.

I still maintain that Elway didn’t want Tim Tebow around and sabotaged his NFL career. I mean, what did Tebow accomplish?

No training camp, no coaching and all he did was win games when the Broncos were going nowhere.

Jealousy is a green-eyed monster.

I don't follow the Broncos closely, but I was always puzzled by how they and the NFL treated Tebow, especially after that playoff win against Pittsburgh. After that game, he really only played only one more game in the NFL.

Most certainly, teams and the NFL PR types feared his Christianity. And so many pundits used the same dismissive cliches against him, like reading from a script.

I have never been a supporter of Elway - since he was drafted by the Baltimore Colts and refused to play for them.

His disregard for the rules and standards of football were astounding!

The Colts sucked at the time. Can’t blame him. He refused to play for a loser. Good for him.

NTHockey, bless you. You’re one of the few people who grasp Elway’s seemingly intentional sabotage of Tebow.

Watch Elway scowl with 58 seconds remaining in the Broncos’ win over the Jets. Watch his slow-clap. Elway visited Stanford half a dozen times hoping to draft Andrew Lock. Because Tebow played great and beat the Texans, Elway had only the # 2 pick and had to settle for Vonn Miller instead of Luck.

As a formerly ardent Broncos fan, I watched as Elway was a mixed blessing for many seasons until he finally progressed. His running Tebow out of Denver was unforgivable. Tebow was an extremely efficient NFL QB who was successful under Fox, McCoy, and Gase. Those 3 won HC jobs because of Tebow, and then lost them. Imagine preferring Jimmy Clausen to Tebow! Imagine Jay Cutler starting for some 10 seasons and making the playoffs only once. Most NFL fans have their heads up their u-know-what

A future in politics?

The liberals who have flooded Colorado from out-of-state have no attachment to John Elway. He means nothing to them.

The colts were indeed a bad team at that point. Johnny U had just retired. That is why they had the first round draft pick - to help them re-build. That’s the way it works - unless you are above the rules. But Elway refused to play by the rules. Sorry, I will never be a fan of Elway.

Unitas left the Colts 10 years before Elway graduated Stanford. Elway said there is no way he would play for old man Irsay, and he would go play baseball before he ever did that. Smart move on his part.

I never liked Elway, but what rule did he break? He used baseball as a lever to maneuver who would draft him. If Alvin Bragg were the DA, he could not be convicted.
