Lovers Point Beach in Pacific Grove was closed on Friday by the Monterey County Bomb Squad due to a suspicious device found by a diver.
According to Pacific Grove police Chief Cathy Madalone, a diver found a device she says resembled a pipe bomb.
The bomb squad was called and responded and Lover's Point Beach was closed to the public.
The device was detonated to render it safe and there were no injuries to either the public or investigators. There was also no damage to property.
Last year, a man was bit by a shark there. Then later that year the EMT who saved him was also bit by a shark. No word on whether a shark is responsible for this device.
Any german-russian pipelines in the area?
Probably not.
So the bomb is underwater? What would be the purpose of that?
“So the bomb is underwater?”
Maybe.
Fishing.
I’ve dove Lovers many years ago and many of the sites south of it.
Junk in the water is not that uncommon.
Point Lobos?
Shark killing?
