In Sun Tzu’s book The Art of War are many reasonable ways to conduct a conflict. Though not specifically stated, one of the published corollaries to his writings is this: “If one is not prepared to be as ruthless as your opponent, your victory is not assured.”
We are long past the time when “turning the other cheek” and “we don’t want to stoop to their level” are admirable and embraceable tenets. It may come to pass that those beliefs will get you dead.
