Pat Purdy was a fine example in 1989. released from a Cali insane asylum, allowed to buy guns in violation of state and Federal laws, passing the waiting period.
He then shot up the Stockton school yard killing several students and himself.
An already prepared AW ban act was pulled out and passed before opposition could be mounted against it.
Most of the mass shooters in the last forty years would have been in an insane asylum if they had not been shut down in the 1970s. It was the brainchild of California Gov Edmund Brown in the 1960s..
