John Law says if you have a car stolen, let the cops find it. My brother had a really nice van, that was all decked out stolen a number of years back. The cops told him if they find the van, they could only charge the maggot who stole it with “joy-riding”. Well, they found the van. Totally stripped. They told him where he could go to pick it up. Pay the towing and storage fees and then patted themselves on the back on the wonderful job they did getting it back. His van was just a victim of “joy-riding” in Phoenix. No harm done.

Wonder what would have qualified for grand theft auto in AZ back then, and how the cops came to that conclusion before apprehending (if at all) any suspect?

Know someone whose stolen car was found and returned over 4 weeks later. It is better for the owner to hope his car is never found.

If old Dragnet episodes can be believed, car thieves in California could get 1 to 10 at San Quentin.

The entire point of a justice system is to circumvent things like this. But if the justice system breaks down, then every offense is a Capital offense. Thanks a lot to the “liberals” who like to set the clock back 1000 years.
