Texas man uses Apple AirTag to track down person who stole his truck, then kills him: police
NY Post ^ | 2 April | Adam Sabes

Posted on 04/02/2023 6:45:33 AM PDT by DUMBGRUNT

The alleged thief wasn’t aware that the vehicle was being tracked, officials said.

Authorities found several bullet casings and two cars with their windows shot out.

Officials are determining if the suspect will be charged in the fatal shooting.

AirTag was designed to help people locate their personal belongings, not to track people or another person’s property, and we condemn in the strongest possible terms any malicious use of our products.

Only for when you misplace something as small as a truck, not for when someone else misplaces your truck without your permission... lol

Can you supply a source on your NY story, please? I’ve tried several varied searches resulting in nothing. They tend to hide those kinds of stories. Thanks.

It’s interesting that the names of the deceased are not published.

Seems to me this product worked great, the Man found his personal belongings. If I were Apple I”d formulate an ad campaign around this.

About 10 years ago, my son in Surprise had his Ford 250, Harley Dividson edition stolen in the middle of the night. A friend a couple houses down was a LEO in Maricopa County. He told my son that his truck was stolen by the Mexican “coyotes”, as the 250 is their favorite human trafficking transportation up from Mehico. He told my son it would be destroyed after they made a few trips back and forth to Mehico. They should find his truck somewhere in a couple weeks. It gets more disgusting than that. That morning a secretary from a construction site called him and said she had a bunch of documents that looked like they may have been from his glove compartment. They were found next to the work site’s fuel pump. He told her what had happened and she said that the cheap coyote bastards normally refuel at construction sites. His truck had been stripped so they could be fitted with straps for the new “american” wetbacks to hold onto as they scream across the desert. Judging from the mileage, it appears they made three trips to Mehico. They then brought the truck back to Arizona and drove it over a cliff. They had to bring in a huge crane to pull it out of the canyon before the far left envirowackos started complaining about it ruining da “enviomen.”

When I started in law enforcement 40 years ago.

Recovering a stolen vehicle would earn you a big pat on the back and a job well done.

That’s a very bad experience indeed. The Texas solution, open season on the thief, for protecting one’s property would be a game changer to this kind of behavior.

Oh, and we are supposed to feel sorry for these poor MX human traffickers who laugh at the stupidity of the American people.

“It’s a defense of prosecution in Texas. You can kill someone to prevent them from stealing”

You are correct. If the criminal was attempting to flee with the car or pulled a gun it is a good shoot.

Add two more:

A man’s home.
A man’s children.

My husband would do battle over all five of them and has pulled a weapon when our home alarm system tripped.
