A couple visiting the Bay Area had two different cars broken into in the same area in the same day.
Shin Kim, a Berkeley graduate, flew to the Bay Area with his wife earlier this month and wanted to show her around. That all changed when the couple stopped at an In-N-Out Burger near the Oakland airport.
"A security guard calls us out asking if the minivan, which was our rental car, was ours," Kim said. "We went out and saw that the three glasses in the back were shattered and all of our luggage was gone."
Many of their possessions were stolen out of the rental car.
"I really did not expect it to happen during the day right in front of the store, right in front of the restaurant," Kim said. "It was very shocking."
The couple then rented a Tesla and made a plan to replace some of their stolen items. They had to go back to the same In-N-Out parking lot to meet the worker who was going to replace the broken windows on the van.
Moments after they arrived, thieves hit the Tesla.
"I turn around and I see these robbers trying to break into the car," Kim said.
"So I held the robber and another robber came out from their vehicle and then pulled a gun on me," Kim said. "As soon as I saw the gun, it was really scary. I just had to hide behind the Tesla."

A yone know where Sam Briton was that day?
“WTH was the “security guard” supposed to be “guarding”????”
Not paid off but working with them. He calls in the car description and plates to the roving thieves and a team rolls up and hits the car.
Call it free lance “reparations”
Would not surprise me......
Kim will never understand the “Real World” after Berkeley, permanent brain damage.
There is such homelessness and crime all over the Bay area today. It got worse during COVID and has never subsided. And the new laws regarding prostitution, drugs, and not reporting crimes under 999.00 in value. It greenlighted crime. It’s a mess.
That’ll learn ya!
Terrible really, a sad state of affairs all around. Generally good society is behaving like the frog on slow boil.
For your own safety you need to be totally on guard and practice situational awareness at all times.
Only useful idiots visit the bay area.
Were any of the woman's clothes fabulous?

2 times is news because it didn’t happen 3 times.
They're busting out the rear quarter windows in a lot of cars and ripping the rear seat backs down to get to those. Trunks are not any safer than the backs of minivans.
those are not break-ins they are simply collecting their reparations!

Your guess seems plausible. My first guess was the thieves followed them from the car rental lot..
“They’re busting out the rear quarter windows in a lot of cars and ripping the rear seat backs down to get to those. Trunks are not any safer than the backs of minivans. “
OBVIOUSLY if one is playing the odds, they understand that advertising a bunch of luggage in an SUV/Minivan is going to be safer (note that I said “safer”, not “safe”) than having that same luggage out of sight, in the trunk.
Note, also, that the other cars parked there, all sedans with trunks (now we know why)...but no broken windows. Seems, for this situation, busy place, middle of the day, the cartels are not going to waste their time digging into a trunk, which could very easily be empty.
That’s odds of the year. It validates the area being shithole

Oh yes they do. They don’t care and if you object they take a shot at you. Nothings going to happen to them and they know it. Call the police. They will send out a mental health team later in the week or you can file a report on line.
These crap holes are failed states. I have watched the “teams” at work. The analogy is Indian raids from the 19th century or a watering hole in Africa during a drought where predators lurk to take the unwary.
I don’t deny what happens when the people of a state vote to give criminals free run, and, in fact that was my biggest fear with Ross Perot, who talked about an “Electronic Town Hall” - basically, will the people voting have reasonable access to information from both sides? Of course, no damn way - they would rubber-stamped whatever the media told them to, as we see regarding World War 3 with Russia.
It’s Oakland
Definitely a drive by city. NEVER stop there
